I forgot to mention...

Jim Henson's 1986 movie THE CHRISTMAS TOY. My sister and I are in love with this one, and it's actually on DVD now! It's about toys who come alive (precursor to TOY STORY, anyone?) when their owners aren't watching...but will freeze forever if caught in the act. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember one of the toys being in love with a spacey doll named Meteora. Just adorable, and funny.

Yes!

I remember thinking Toy Story was a rip-off of this. I saw it one Christmas and loved it. It's a minor classic.

I love all these movies, too. Great choices!

It's like you've tapped into a very rich vein within yourself -- stories you love! And in a way you've created a new genre. Or a sub-genre. That could be your own.

If you take your favorite scenes from all these movies and cobble them together into your own story, what would you get?!

Maybe: "Christmas" & "kids" & "toys" & "fighting burglers" & lots more great stuff.

But Howard the Turtle has to be included. He's the funny one!

If every CG movie of the last ten years was remade as a Jim Henson movie, I'd die with happiness.

And I have to say, if you're going to watch this one, definitely follow it up with The Muppet Family Christmas with John Denver. They go to Fozzie's mom's house and it is full of every muppet you could possibly wish for.

I'd just like to wish a Merry Christmas to you, Amanda, and to your family and loved ones, and to all the persons on the blog. Cheers! Here's hoping that 2009 will be a breakthrough year for everybody!
