Semester programs in Los Angeles

I got my start in LA by spending a semester here in college - and for many people, it's a great way to learn about the industry hands-on and decide if you want to move here after graduation. I missed a great LA Times article from earlier this month that discusses the programs at various schools, including mine (Ithaca College).

Sounds like the right way to go. I was browsing some courses at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and came across a certificate course on how to be an Executive Producer. The course was 42 credits with a cost of about $1,500.00 for each 3 credit course. It struck me that as a writer it might be good for me to really learn the business side as well as the creative side. Anyway, the course would take only 18 to 24 months and would probably pay off in benefits for the rest of my life. Haven't decided yet, but I'm thinking about it.

Excellent blog, Amanda. You know, I always wanted to write an ep of Buffy. Guess that's not gonna happen now ;)

I'd love to hear about LA so I'll check back.
